In January of 2007, the late Heath Ledger met with Issac Brock of Modest to discuss a concept he came up with for their yet to be released song "King Rat." More than 2 years later, the video which Ledger began directing before he passed has been completed by film and music company The Masses (which Ledger was a partner of).

File this one under tale as old as time. Whenever someone in the Britney Spears camp lets slip the tiniest bit of news about the pop star working on new material it's as if a smal match is struck and then all of a sudden a forest has been burnt down.

Well the latest news comes via Spears' twitter in which she states, "In Stockholm in the studio with Max Martin - Britney." A mere few hours after this hit the twitterverse, news began surfacing the the recently rehabbed pop star has asked Australian songwriting duo Olivia and Mirian Nervo (who penned the #1 UK song "When Love Takes Over" by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland) to write music for either a Circus re-release or a new album.

As is always the case with Britney, time will only tell.

In the meantime, enjoy the music video for "When Love Takes Over" by DJ David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland. The video is feh, but I actually think the song is good.

When I was six my mom took my sister and I to the Blockbuster in Downtown Birmingham to rent a video and I distinctly remember convincing her to purchase the Black or White VHS for us. We watched that thing until it hardly worked.

The edition we had was the special bonus 20 minute VHS that also contained the Do You Remember The Time video. I however, was especially impressed with the Black or White video- the craziest special effects ever!! In three simple nods and turns of the head, the people changed, NUTS! Before tonight, I hadn’t seen the video since I was about nine, and it’s safe to say, retrospectively it’s not as impressing now as it was to my six year old eyes. However, there was a time when I thought this was the most magical video in the world.

As a tribute to Michael Jackson, each contributing member of 8449 will be doing a piece entitled Do You Remember The Time and in it we will be each give one memory that we had of the King of Pop as well as play one of his music videos.

One memory of Michael Jackson that sticks out in my mind is the interview that he did with Oprah back in February of 1993. The reason it is my choice for do you remember the time is because I remember sitting in my living room with my entire family watching as he shared with viewers 90 minutes of his personal life, and in 1993, there was nothing and no one bigger than that. I think it may also be the fact that, coming from a fairly large family, it was rare that all of us would be watching television in the same room together.

My music video choice is for the song "Smooth Criminal" because it's been in my head all day long.

I think it's safe to say that today's Who What Wear detailing what to wear while walking your dog was the best yet, second maybe to the Coachella recap, but this 8449er is a bit biased. Few things are more California Chic then looking effortlessly put together when walking your dog, and for the record I am in no way discussing a getup involving heels and sparkles, à la P. Hilton.

I think WWW said it best when they summed up dog walking style with these lines.
"If dogs are man's best friend, then surely these photos prove they've moved on to become woman's best accessory. After all, the stylish set is always spotted with their four-legged friends in tow, indicating that puppy love's a must-have for every season. Being a part of a successful blog has taken a tole on the sole male member of 8449. As someone who used to be comfortable in his own skin, RCA soon gave into the pressures of being thin in Los Angeles. After seeing a picture posted on a friends facebook page, RCA couldn't take it anymore. "I was horrified, I remember thinking, 'I can't believe how huge I look walking next to ESK.'

Another time, while laying at the beach in Venice, RCA asked REM, "What looks better, shirt on our off?" REM said, "On."

The blogger says that the pressure drove him to do the classic binge and purge. He goes on to say that he began in mid February 2009 and stopped second week of May. When things got bad, he was forced to go to a therapist who suggested to quit the blog, "I was advised to stop writing for 8449, and I responded, 'I can't I love it.'"

"I'm living a dream. I love my personality, although I've never met anyone who's completely confident with themselves. But my dark days are over. I'm proud of how far I've come"

8449ers read enough books to fill up our bookit button and as a reward were having a pizza party! Woo Hoo. Pics to come tomorrow but until now, enjoy Nancy's Chopped Salad recipe that REM will be making courtesy of Nancy Silverton of Mozza fame.

Nancy's Chopped Salad
Adapted from the recipe in the LA Times

Makes 1 generous entree-salad portion

Oregano Dressing
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano (I used McCormick's
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
(*Note: May not need all the dressing)

1. Mix the garlic, oregano, salt and pepper together. Chop the mixture together and use the side of a knife or a mortar and pestle to make a grainy herb paste.

2. Add the lemon juice and vinegar. Mix with a fork, allowing the salt to dissolve, then add the oil and whisk with a fork until well combined. The dressing should be thick with garlic and oregano.

Salad and assembly
1/3 cup can chickpeas, drained
1/6 red onion, peeled and sliced into fine rings
1 ounce aged provolone, sliced into ribbons
2 small pickled pepperocini, sliced into rings
1/2 cup grape tomatoes, sliced in half
1 cup iceberg lettuce, cut into ribbons
1 cup radicchio lettuce, cut into ribbons

Mix ingredients together in a salad bowl. Toss with dressing and top with extra oregano, if desired.

So music blogs all over the internet have been ablaze for the last couple of months over Lil Wayne's protege who goes by the name of Drake. Well, if you read any of the thousand of articles that have been written about "Drake" none of them mention the fact that "Drake" is another former Degrassi star that is starting to make it big outside of the Canadian world and tween set.

"Drake" a.k.a. Aubrey Graham has appeared on 138 episodes of Degrassi and I find it to be almost appalling that so many people are hiding this truth. Being on a Canadian teen drama series is nothing to be ashamed of, in fact, Aubrey has shown a great amount of range in his time with the series. From racial issues, to puberty to his girlfriend being involved with ecstasy and even getting caught up in a school shooting and ending up in a wheel chair.

He does have plenty to be proud of, Degrassi aside. "Drake" has started an industry bidding war over who will be able to release his debut album. It has been reported that some labels are willing to shell out $2 million for the rights to his music. Who would've thought that when Ashley got stage fright at that school talent show while singing "Tell Me Lies" and Jimmy wheeled himself onstage to save the show that he would end up being one of the most buzzed about rappers out there right now. Not this guy, that's for sure. And what's even more insane is that an unauthorized album titled "The Girls Love Drake" hit iTunes this past week and his camp is trying to figure out who is behind the release (crazy).

I say come out Aubrey, Drake whatever your name is and tell the world that you're not starting off as a hip-hop artist, but that you actually started your career churning out terrible dialogue week after week and being a part of one of the most addicting series in this decade.

Now I wanted to show you all a video of Jimmy saving the talent show, but alas, the video is nowhere to be found. I was able to find a youtube clip of the song, and even though it doesn't capture the essence of the performance, it will give you a taste of some mad skillz.

Word.

And what ever happened to that Degrassi goes to LA movie. I'm sort of mad that I missed that shit.

It's hard to believe that a year has passed since I graduated from business school with my MBA. Einstein once said "If A is success in life, then A equals X plus Y plus Z. Work is X; Y is play; and Z is keeping your mouth shut."

It is fair to say I truly began to understand the challenges, and rewards, of X this year, and that I mastered Y while in school and continue to do so. As a good friend of mine said, we have the rest of our lives to perfect Z, which for me might actually take that long- especially while maintaing two daily blogs.

So last night was episode 2 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and I feel like I'm going out on an 8449 limb right now when I say that I don't think I'm digging on the newest installment of the Housewives series. Sure I'm laughing when Theresa brings her 7 year old Gia to her acting coach only to realize that Gia is not very good, and yeah I like seeing Caroline and her husband grilling her daughter about what she is planning on doing with her life, but something about New Jersey just isn't grabbing me.

Now this may come back to bite me in the ass when I'm salivating over scenes for a future episode, but as of right now, I'm just not feeling it. Am I alone in this? Let me know your thoughts.

And can I just say right now, bring back New York please?

Now being a full time blogger has many many perks, chiefly that I can work from my bed in whatever outfit I choose, but an unfortunate side effect, as you all learned, was the abandonment of my personal blog/twitter life. Tonight this all changed.
Seesmic, which, on another yet somewhat related note, was the first desktop twitter manager to incorporate the Facebook stream in the beginning of this month, is both user friendly, and dare I say, somewhat sexy. However, by far its best feature is that you can completely run multiple twitter accounts at once and have both on one screen. Meaning both home screens, @reply, DM screens are open at the same time, simply switching input users by pushing a button. Essentially, for all the non-losers out there in cyberland, what this means for you is more tweets from me again!

Rejoice now while I uninstall tweetdeck.

Well, it's official. I survived my second earthquake this week and, truth be told, I didn't feel either one. I think it's either that I am the most oblivious person in the world, or I am incredibly grounded (ba dum cha). Either way, I am kind of jealous of everyone that has noticed the earth shake, aka everyone else in the greater Los Angeles area. If this week's trend continues it may not be too long until I feel one for my self.

A dark cloud set over my Monday afternoon when I learned that ABC had canceled 'Samantha Who?' For those of you who haven't seen it...which evidently must be a lot of you... 'Samantha Who?' was one of the few quality half hour comedy programs left on TV.

I guess if it doesn't have spray tans, sequins, and faux celebs trying to dance, ABC isn't interested.

I spent this past weekend visiting one of my closest friends in Boulder, CO and made a last minute decision this morning to change my flight to go home to Detroit for a little bit. I will be back in Los Angeles very soon with some big plans for myself.

This weekend while I was at the beach I was reminded of my childhood dream. Now before I reveal this dream, I feel a bit of a back story is necessary. From 1993 til 1999 when the reruns stopped, I was in to The Adventures of Pete and Pete, heavy into it. This show was filled of a cast of incredible characters, from "Petunia" the dancing tattoo on Little Pete's arm , to Artie the strongest man in the world, to Mr. Tastee and his Tastee Mobile, and lastly to Mom's metal plate. The plate in Mom's head, served as a fantastic meet-cute for "Mom" and "Dad", which was convinetly for me, played out weekly in the own opening credit. They met when the metal detector he was using on a beach led him to the metal plate in her head, the prize of all prizes.

Now this tangent about Pete and Pete serves more of a purpose than to purely reminisce about the show that served such a strong role in my formative years, and it is that my entire life I have wanted a metal detector, just like "Dad". When in elementary school, I dreamed of one thing and one thing only during recess, and that was scanning the playground for dropped quarters that my fellow schoolmates/fools couldn't keep in their pockets. After spending a summer at the Cape and watching real-time metal detectors go to work, the desire was amplified. This weekend I was reminded of my lust for a electromagnetic induction to detect metal, and you may find me on a beach near you some day soon hunting for lost treasures, or at least lost quarters.
